Objectives:- 

  • To learn the PLC & SCADA software. 
  • To understand operation and performance of Industrial Automation. 
  • To learn the ladder Diagram Logic for Industrial Automation. 
  • Student will able to program, Troubleshoot, Maintain PLC based System.

Syllabus:- 

Day 01: Industrial Panel Wiring 

  • Definition of Industrial Automation 
  • Relay Wiring,  
  • Contactor Wiring,  
  • Parallel and Series connection 
  • DOL starter 

Day 02: Industrial Panel Wiring 

  • Star-Delta Starter Wiring 
  •  Hardware Timer 
  •  Input Interlocking 
  • Output Interlocking 

Day 03: Introduction to Industrial Automation 

  • Introduction to PLC 
  • Architecture of PLC (Block Diagram) 
  • Detail information of PLC components 
  • Introduction to Field devices (switches, sensors, transmitters etc.) 
  • Types of Devices (Input, Output, Discrete (Sink & Source), Analog) 
  • Scan Cycle of PLC 
  • Introduction to Ladder Logic (programming language for PLC) 
  • Concepts of NO & NC (Start-Stop Logic) 

Day 04:  PLC LAB-2(Hardware & Programming)  

  • Introduction to Allen Bradley and the range of PLC available 
  • Introduction to AB PLC’s programming software 
  • Addressing concepts with Bit, Byte & Word 
  • Downloading, Uploading & Monitoring of program 
  • Practical on PLC with Programming instructions 
  • NO, NC 
  • Apply logic gate combinations to PLC control 
  • Convert digital logic to ladder logic 
  • Latch, Unlatch 

DAY 05: PLC LAB-2(Advance Instructions-Timer & Counter Blocks) 

  • List the three basic types of PLC timers. 
  • Describe the function of a time-driven circuit 
  • Differentiate between an ON-delay and an OFF-delay instruction. 
  • Write a ladder logic program using timers. 
  • Describe the operating principle of retentive timers. 
  • Define the two basic types of PLC counters 
  • Write a ladder logic program using CTU, CTD, and RES 
  • Design an up/down counter  
  • Programming with Compare, Move blocks and Scaling for Analog device (as per availability of time)
